01 Apr Team to face Swansea at the Brewery
It’s the penultimate home game of the season at the Timbuild Brewery Field this Saturday when Swansea are the visitors (2:30pm).
The all Ospreys derby is the third time the sides have met this season, with the head to head locked at one a piece. Swansea won the first game between the two at the Brewery by 35pts to 17, before Bridgend got revenge thanks to a late Edd Howley winner at St Helen’s, coming away 20pts to 13 winners.
The Ravens haven’t been in action since the 17pts to 54 home humbling to Pontypridd in mid March. That disappointing result followed two improved results and performances; a losing bonus point on the road at Carmarthen Quins and a 20pts to 8 victory over RGC at home.
Ironically, Swansea also last featured against Pontypridd, narrowly losing 25pts to 26. Their previous game was also a narrow defeat at home to Newport by 17pts to 24, when the Black and Ambers struck late to take a bonus point win back to Newport Stadium. The All Whites are two places and three points ahead of the Ravens, but have played a game more than their hosts.
There’s change in the back three, with Tyler Williams returning from injury to start at 15, in a back three alongside Cameron Ellis and Dewi Cross. Joseph Gatt is paired with Nathan Edwards in midfield following his spell out with injury. Jamie Murphy and Harvey Nash are the half backs.
Amongst the forwards, it’s a front row of Owen Jordan, Gareth Harvey and Cai Lewis, and Hemi Barnes and Bowen Davies are partnered in the second row. The back row comprises Zac O’Driscoll, Dafi Davies and Travis Huntley.
Amongst Bridgend’s replacements are props Gareth Hall (Glynneath) and Adam Court (Pontyclun). Gareth will make his club debut if he takes to the field, with Adam looking to add to his ten appearances he picked up in season 2019/20. Also available to Bridgend is Morgan Strong, looking to make his first appearance since he picked up an injury at Newport in the Winter.
