Powerhouse Davies becomes latest Ravens Recruit

Bridgend Ravens have signed second row Matthew Davies ahead of the upcoming Indigo Premiership Cup.

Second row Davies has had Welsh Premiership experience for Neath, Llanelli and Pontypridd. The 23-year-old from Maesteg is a former Bridgend College product. Towards the end of 2019 Davies decided to take a step away from the game.

However, on signing for the Ravens he commented, “After a couple of seasons of questioning my future in rugby, I am delighted to be a Raven.

After almost two years out of the game, I am buzzing to get back out there and ready for a fresh start. Growing up, playing on the Brewery Field was always a big occasion, so to be able to do that week in week out is a great personal achievement and I’m excited to be playing in blue this season. I’m hoping to be a Raven for a long time.”

Head Coach Steve Jones commented, “We are delighted to bring another local and ex Bridgend college player to the club.  Matthew will add more competition for places to what is already a strong pool of second row players.

We are all excited for the start of the season as it’s been a long time since we saw the Ravens run out on the Brewery Field with our fantastic support behind us.”

Davies could make his Ravens debut against Maesteg Harlequins at South Parade on the 21st of August.
