Bridgend Ravens

Team to face Llandovery (H)

Bridgend Ravens welcome Llandovery to the Morganstone Brewery Field on Saturday afternoon (2:30pm).

Bridgend are desperate to get back to winning ways after back to back defeats since the turn of the year left them level on points with bottom side Ebbw Vale. A narrow, last kick defeat to Newport at the Morganstone Brewery Field was followed by a reverse at the Wern against treble Indigo Premiership champions Merthyr last weekend.

Llandovery currently sit in 7th place in the current league standings, although they have 3 games in hand. Last weekend, they drew 10pts a piece with Ebbw Vale at a sodden Church Bank. Trailing 10pts to 5 at half time, a try from Rhodri Jones saw them draw level, but they were unable to find a winner against the league’s basement side.

In the reverse fixture, Llandovery comfortably beat Bridgend 40pts to 13. Two Owen Howe penalties, and a conversion of Jack Pope’s try were all Bridgend had to show for their afternoon’s work as the home side blew them away in the first 20 minutes of the second half.

Last season, Bridgend did the double over the Drovers. Remarkably, the victory at the Morganstone Brewery Field was Bridgend’s first over the West Walians in ten years. Tries from Connor Tantum, Geraint Roberts and Jamie Murphy, along with points from the boot of Murphy secured a 25pts to 20 win, before buy valium cheap Bridgend sealed a sensational league double with a 19pts to 10 win at Church Bank.

There’s more good news for Bridgend as their ranks are boosted with the return from injury of Andrew Evans. He takes his place in the back three alongside Owen Howe and Dewi Cross. Brad Roderick and Nathan Edwards are selected in the centre, with Jamie Murphy and Chris Williams continuing at half back.

Amongst the pack, it’s a recall for Owen Jordan and Gareth Harvey who join Cai Lewis. Ben Jones and Jack Pope are the second row of choice and the back row comprises Rob Dudley Jones, Adam O’Driscoll and Travis Huntley.

Caine Woolerton is back from Wales 7s duty to take his place amongst Bridgend’s replacements.
