Bridgend Ravens celebrated the 2018/19 season with an end of season awards evening at Rafters Bar at the Morganstone Brewery Field on Friday evening.
The Ravens left it until the last day of the 18/19 season to secure their place in next season’s reduced Premiership and it was a night of celebration at a sold out Rafters Bar. Guests were treated to a two course meal before the usual awards were presented, with after dinner entertainment from guest speaker, Rob Howley.
Firstly, the squad members who hit significant appearance milestones were awarded their prizes. Jack Pope, Connor Tantum, Tom Morgan, Morgan Jones, Rhodri Apsee, Ben Jones and  Gareth Harvey picked up their awards, with Ollie Evans absent.
Mike Powell was presented with a club cap for reaching 100 appearances this season, and Jamie Murphy belatedly picked his up after hitting the same figure two seasons ago. Their awards were presented by Rob Howley.
Nathan Edwards and Murphy took to the stage to receive their 150 appearance awards from Chairman Derrick King; a framed picture courtesy of Doodled by Noodle. Cai Lewis was absent and his award was presented to his sponsor, Matthew Williams.
Gareth Harvey took home two prizes; presented with the Players’ Player of the Season award by Nathan Edwards, and the Supporters’ Player of the Season by Matthew Williams. ?Morgan Jones ?took home the Most Improved Player Award, presented by outgoing Backs Coach, Grant Hall.
The Clubman of the Year award will now be known as the Derrick King Clubman of the Year Award in recognition of Derrick’s 26 year service to Bridgend Ravens. The inaugural winner of the award was the club’s Media Officer Aled Thomas, who was presented the award by Norman Spain and Derrick himself.

Derrick King remained on the stage as he belatedly received his WRU Special Recognition Award by Meredydd James. He was also presented with a signed photograph of the squad by Maureen Wilkinson, and a club cap from Meredydd James (courtesy of Mike Williams).
Congratulations to all the awards winners, and thanks to everybody who attended and made the evening so successful. Stay tuned to bridgendravens.co.uk as we bring you news ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.
