Murphy ‘Your Support is Outstanding’

In the latest part of our build up to the Foster’s Challenge Cup clash at Cardiff, caught up with Ravens centurion Jamie Murphy.

The last round of Foster’s Challenge Cup matches saw Jamie Murphy become the first current squad member to hit 100 appearances for Bridgend Ravens. The utility back is hoping to hit another landmark over the next fortnight by helping Bridgend reach the Foster’s Challenge Cup knockout stages for the first time. There are two pool matches remaining, at Cardiff on Wednesday evening before Neath visit the Bridgend Ford Brewery Field on the following midweek.

Having made his return to the club in the summer after a spell with South Wales Scorpions in rugby league, Murphy is relishing the clash with the old enemy at the BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on Wednesday evening.

‘It’s a massive game, it’s kind of like the start of a new season due to the split and we have a real opportunity to progress to the semi finals of this competetion, but we’re not looking past Cardiff and we realise the task ahead.

It would be nice to gain some momentum in the next few weeks as we have lost out way somewhat since November.

The support we receive from our loyal fans is outstanding, I can understand their frustration with recent results but we are a young group with a brand new coaching and backroom staff, I have no doubt if we retain the current crop of players we have it will come to fruition, and I’m hoping that will be evident throughout the rest of this season, starting on Wednesday at The Arms Park.’
