‘Evzy’ enjoys Ravens VIP experience

Having been inspirationally fighting a terminal brain tumour for a number of months, Bridgend fan Mike Evans was invited by the club to enjoy a VIP experience at Saturday’s match against Pontypridd.

Starting out with a look around behind the scenes at the Bridgend Ford Brewery Field pre-match, Mike also listened to the team talk by head coach Matt Silva, before meeting squad members ahead of the big match.

Having watched the game with the coaching staff from the gantry, he also experienced a detailed explanation of how the team analyst works, while attending the post-match Bridgend Former Players Association function in Rafters Lounge.

Police Officer Mike, 49 from Bridgend, a former Pencoed RFC player himself and well known to a number of former and current members of the Ravens squad, is an experienced 10 time Ironman, and has competed in a number of extremely gruelling events.

Earlier this year he completed the Porthcawl Olympic Triathlon, completing a 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride and a 10km run in the process, despite suffering from the tumour.
