Ravens bow out in Foster’s Quarter Final

Round 1 – Bridgend Ravens vs RGC1404

The Ravens faced the their opening Principality Premiership opponents in the first round of the Foster’s 7s tournament and dominated the opening seven minutes. A knock on over the line and a couple of handling errors in the RGC 22 left the Ravens with a slim 7-0 lead, despite having the majority of possession in an advanced position, thanks to a Geraint Watkin score which Joseph Scrivens converted.

The second half saw RGC get back into the match thanks to a Penalty try. Gareth Beer received a yellow card for his pull back off the ball. But Bridgend upped their performance whilst down to 6 men to regain the lead. Morgan Jones surged upfield and was eventually stopped in the RGC 22, the ball was spread from one wing to another and Iestyn Merriman crashed over to edge the Ravens into a five point lead.

Cup Quarter Final – Llandovery RFC vs Bridgend Ravens

Bridgend faced a tough assignment in the Quarter Final of the Cup competition against current Champions Llandovery. The drovers got off to a flying start with an early score but the Ravens’ positive play looked to have got them back into the game. Geraint Watkin and Joseph Scrivens both went close for the Ravens, but the drovers held out and added a second converted score just before the break.

Llandovery went on to add two further converted scores in the second half without reply from the valiant Ravens to bring an end to Bridgend’s 2016 Foster’s 7s campaign.
