Bridgend 0-36 Cardiff

Cardiff thumped Bridgend under the Friday night lights at the Morganstone Brewery Field.

Things started well for Bridgend, with an early yellow for Cardiff's Sam Pailor who was sent to the bin for a ruck infringement. The Ravens were unable to capitalise on the Blue & Blacks' ill discipline though and Cardiff were first on the board with a penalty from Gareth Thompson.

In an error strewn first half, it was the visitors that headed to the dressing room twelve points to the good thanks to more points from the boot of Gareth Thompson and a fine penalty from new-signing Ed Howley. This after Bridgend's Chris John was also yellow carded with just moments of the first period remaining.

The second half saw more of the same; although Bridgend's efforts to get back into the game can not be discounted. Thompson stretched the lead early in the second period before Iestyn Merriman became the second Raven to be yellow carded.

The game was well and truly taken away from the home side after 54 minutes when Will Rees Hole crossed for a fine Cardiff score, converted by Thompson.

Back row man Tom Daley added Cardiff's second before a late try from Morgan Allen rounded things off for Cardiff. Both tries were converted by former Dragon Steff Jones.

It was a hugely disappointing evening for Bridgend, but they can't afford to dwell on proceedings too long with two massive Principality Premiership games against Bedwas and Llanelli on the horizon, before a December which includes home matches against Neath, Cross Keys and Aberavon. First up is the home clash with Bedwas on Friday at 7:15pm.
