Team to face Bargoed (a)

Bridgend Ravens travel to Bargoed Park on Friday evening for a massive Principality Premiership clash (KO 7:15pm).

The sides are level in the current league standings, each with 17 points from their opening nine games as the battle to retain places in the Principality Premiership intensifies.
Bridgend's last outing against Bargoed was a narrow 36-38 reverse in a pre-season game at the Morganstone Brewery Field. They met just a few months earlier as Bridgend ran riot in a 68-35 victory. Bargoed's recent record against Bridgend is a good one though with three wins in their last five dating back to 2013.
It was a weekend to forget for both teams in the last round of games. Bridgend were thumped in a poor performance at Carmarthen Park. Two Will Holley penalties were all that the travelling contingent had to cheer about as the Quins deservedly took home five points; 44pts to 6 on the scoreboard. Bargoed made the long trip to North Wales to face RGC for a 40pts to 7 defeat.
Cai Evans makes his first start of the season for the Ravens at full back in a back three alongside new recruit Ashley Evans and Mike Powell. Nathan Edwards and Morgan Jones pair up in midfield, with Ryan Evans and Chris Williams at half back.
Rhodri Apsee, Iestyn Merriman and Cai Lewis comprise Bridgend's front three. It's a welcome return for Shaun O'Rourke from injury in partnership with Chris John. Adam O'Driscoll, Tom Morgan and Dafi Davies continue as a back row.
Bridgend XV: 15. Cai Evans 14. Ashley Evans 13. Morgan Jones 12. Nathan Edwards (capt) 11. Mike Powell 10. Ryan Evans 9. Chris Williams
