Team to face Bargoed (a)

Bridgend Ravens head to Bargoed Park on Saturday for a re-arranged Principality Premiership fixture with Bargoed RFC (2:30pm).

After two damaging defeats to Llanelli and Bedwas, Bridgend earned a much needed bonus point win over RGC at the Morganstone Brewery Field last weekend by 43pts to 39. This is one of Bridgend's two games in hand on Bedwas; with the Ravens having a further game in hand over Llanelli who currently occupy the final 'safe' spot in the division. Bridgend's success was built on a solid first half which saw Tom Morgan (twice), Ben Jones and James Little all score. There was a stirring comeback from the Gogs but Gareth Harvey and Gheorghe Gajion added to Bridgend's first half efforts to seal victory, despite a late scare. With games against already relegated Bargoed and Cross Keys to come, before trips to Pontypridd and Aberavon, Bridgend know their destiny remains in their own hands.
Bargoed put up a valiant fight infront of the S4C cameras against Merthyr in their last outing. The Ironmen cemented their place at the top of the league with a comprehensive 42 pts to 26 victory with Bargoed picking up a bonus point for scoring four tries. The Bulls' previous games
The fixture earlier this season saw Bridgend come out on top by 31pts to 11 at the Morganstone Brewery Field. The Ravens scored five tries on a dismal evening weather wise and know that they'll need more of the same if they're to pick up a much needed victory on Saturday afternoon. Bridgend's recent record against Bargoed has been mixed; with three wins from the last five.
Matt Silva largely sticks with the side that triumphed over RGC last weekend. Owen Howe, Mike Powell and Dewi Cross continue in the back three with captain Nathan Edwards and Morgan Jones in midfield. Ospreys starlet Josh Thomas partners Chris Williams after a glittering debut last weekend.
Owen Jordan, Gareth Harvey and Gheorghe Gajion comprise the front row. There’s a change in the second row where Lloyd Ashley pairs up with
Ben Jones. Adam O’Driscoll, Owain Lloyd and Dafi Davies is the back row selection.
