Team to face Ebbw (A)

Bridgend Ravens head to Eugene Cross Park on Saturday afternoon to face Ebbw Vale in the Principality Premiership (2:30pm).

Buoyed by two wins over Neath and Swansea over the last fortnight, Bridgend head East in good form but face a challenging test against Greg Woods’ unbeaten Steelmen. Last Friday’s victory was certainly Bridgend’s get out of jail card. Trailing 5-17, the Ravens staged a thrilling comeback to steal a 26-23 win. Adam O’Driscoll, Jamie Murphy and Iestyn Merriman hauled Bridgend back into the tie before a penalty try sent the home crowd into delirium.

Ebbw continued their unbeaten start to the season with victory a hugely impressive victory in North Wales against RGC last time out. This followed a comeback success infront of the ScrumV cameras over Aberavon the previous week. Llanelli were the first side to ‘Feel the Steel’ at Parc y Scarlets, Ebbw coming away with a thumping 10-43 win.

Rugby is a squad game and Bridgend’s improved strength in depth is explored by Matt Silva as they face the Steelmen. Returning from injury, it’s a second Bridgend debut for Mikey Kennedy at full back. Morgan Jones moves from the centre to the wing with Will Holley retaining his place on the other flank against his former side. Stuart Floyd Ellis and Nathan Edwards pair up in midfield with Jamie Murphy and Chris Williams the half backs.

Man of the Match in last week’s epic with Swansea, Iestyn Merriman, comes into the front row alongside Rhodri Apsee and Cai Lewis. Chris John and Shaun O’Rourke are selected in the second row with Adam O’Driscoll, Tom Morgan and Dafi Davies in the back row.
