Bridgend Ravens and CCYD join forces

Bridgend Ravens are delighted to announce an official partnership with Coleg Cymunedol y Dderwen (CCYD), which the squad will be using as one of their official training venue.

The comprehensive school, located in Tondu and formed as a result of a merger between Ogmore Comprehensive School and Ynysawdre Comprehensive School, opened its doors in September 2013, is home to excellent sporting facilities including a four court sports hall, grass pitches, a 3G pitch, astro turf as well as a multi-use games area allowing creative use of the space throughout the season.

Team Manager Meredith Griffith, now in his third season, commented, “Having commenced pre-season last night, the club are looking forward to what has already become a very positive start and look forward to utilising the fantastic facilities to the best of its ability. CCYD have been brilliant already, and long may it continue.”

“We have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Bridgend College for many years that has seen both organisations working in partnership in a number of ways, including the player development pathway, commercial, and the use of our facilities at Morganstone Brewery Field for televised midweeks games, so are disappointed to be in a position where this summer we have had to source alternative facilities. However, this has allowed us to come to an agreement with CCYD that better suits the needs of all parties at this particular time.”

The squad, including the new additions, will be using CCYD as their base for their pre-season campaign which continue this evening (Thursday), with sessions at K2 Gym in Bridgend and Merthyr Mawr Sand Dunes also scheduled in for the first few weeks as the squad puts in the hard work ahead of a pivotal Principality Premiership season.
