JP joins up with Ravens

Bridgend Ravens are delighted to announce the signing of back Jonny Phillips.

Jon joins up with his home town club having left fellow Western division Premiership side Aberavon earlier this season. A product of the Bridgend Athletic Youth system, Jon signed for the Wizards in 2011/12. He spent six seasons at the club, making 91 appearances.
Able to play anywhere in the back three, Jon adds to an already impressive back division at the Ravens.

Described as a popular figure amongst players and supporters by the Aberavon website, Jon makes the switch to the Ravens ahead of the business end of the campaign, with the league merging in the New Year and it’s a move which he is clearly relishing.

‘I’m really excited to have signed for Bridgend. I’m looking forward to the new challenge of playing for my home town club and playing with some of my close mates.

I’m hoping to bring some experience to a young enthusiastic team. I’ve really enjoyed training since I joined up with the squad. I can’t wait to get on the field and properly get started.’

Jon’s new Head Coach, Matt Silva commented, ‘The management and coaching team at Bridgend are always looking to bolster our squad with talented local players. The signing of Jonny is further evidence of this and he will add to an already exciting back three. He will bring another dimension to our attacking play with his pace and excellent running game.’
