Despite storm Callum's wind and rain, both sides played enterprising, attractive attacking rugby. Llandovery Fullback Tomi Lewis notched a fine solo try early in the contest but Bridgend were able to strike back quickly.
Bridgend's well worked maul move following a penalty kick to the corner got the hosts to within striking range, and from there, the elusive Connor Tantum sniped for the try. Jamie Murphy added the conversion to hand Bridgend a narrow two point lead.
Jack Maynard and Jamie Murphy traded penalties before Bridgend added their second try of the match. Ryan Evans’ excellent touch finder, aided by a stiff breeze, gave Bridgend an attacking opportunity deep in the Drovers 22. Iestyn Merriman went close following a powerful driving effort but Bridgend spread the ball to the right wing where Tom Morgan produced a sublime offload to hand Geraint Roberts a first try in Bridgend colours on his Premiership debut for the club. Murphy added a magnificent touchline conversion.
As halftime approached, Murphy added another three points to leave Bridgend in control at the break, but facing the strong wind in the second half.
