Match Report

Llandovery 26-13 Bridgend

Bridgend Ravens fell to a 26 points to 13 defeat at Church Bank, leaving the Ravens disappointed not to claim at least a point from the match thanks to a much improved performance on Bridgend's two previous meetings with Llandovery this season.

Each half started with two quick fire tries from the Drovers, Bridgend were caught cold early, with Llandovery's Aaron Warren touching down twice as the Drovers attack sliced through the Ravens defence. Jack Maynard converted both scores.

Jamie Murphy added a penalty for Bridgend before having to be substituted due to injury. Ryan Evans then added Bridgend's second penalty with 18 minutes played.

A lightning start saw Llandovery bag a try bonus point within 7 minutes of the second half kick off. Lee Rees and Duane Eager touched down with Maynard converting one and uncharacteristically hitting the crossbar from directly in front with the other.

Bridgend struck back almost immediately with a perfectly executed counter attack. The ever reliable Matthew John started the move, breaking into the Drovers half before finding livewire scrum half Connor Tantum. Tantum carried further before finding Jonathan Phillips who raced over to score his seventh try since joining the Club in December. Ryan Evans converted.

Bridgend pressed throughout the second half but were unable to find a score, with Llandovery's defence resolute.

Two clubs playing expansive rugby made for an entertaining match, though Bridgend will have been disappointed not to score at least one more try and leave with a point and with a little more luck, and patience, could have taken more.
