Bridgend Ravens secured two bonus points thanks to a gutsy second half performance at Carmarthen Park, just missing out on victory, falling to a 30 points to 28 defeat.
Bridgend struggled to get a foothold in the match throughout the first half, with Carmarthen dominating territory and possession during the opening 40 minutes. The Ravens defended well throughout the half, but indiscipline eventually cost them the first try of the match. A penalty, five metres out, was quickly tapped forcing the Ravens defenders to make the tackle from an offside position. The referee awarded the Quins a penalty try.
A second try for the hosts with five minutes remaining in the half arrived thanks to a powerful maul drive. Carmarthen looked comfortable, and seemed to be heading into the break with a fourteen point advantage.
Bridgend, however, managed a last minute score in the half with Dylan Moss reading a wide Carmarthen attack, pouncing on a floated pass to intercept. The flyer had more than enough pace to run it in from halfway. Cai Evans slotted the conversion from in front to leave a 7 point margin between the sides at the break.

Carmarthen built on their lead early in the second half. Dan Jones added a penalty before the Quins touched down for the third time in the match.
Shortly after, with Bridgend attacking hard in search of a second try. Carmarthen raced away from their own 22 following an interception. The chance to take the game away from the Ravens was stopped following the phenomenal effort of Owen Watkin, Dylan Moss and Cai Evans to chase down Carmarthen wing Griffiths. It didn't take long for Bridgend to bag themselves a second try thanks to their impactful bench. Harri Morgan, upping the visitors tempo, launched an attack with a quick tap penalty on halfway. Aaron Grabham continued the attack up to the Quins 22 and produced a sublime offload to fellow wing Dylan Moss who raced over in the corner. Cai Evans nailed the touchline conversion to narrow the gap to 10.
It took less than 5 minutes for Bridgend to add a third try, ripping through the Carmarthen defence, finishing a move that started in their own 22. Cai Lewis made 20 metres upfield with further good carrying from the Ravens out wide. Bridgend switched the play, going from right to left finding supporters man of the match Joseph Gatt who was able to race away into the Quins 22. The inside pass sent Owen Watkin over under the posts for the try. Cai Evans converted to leave just a three point margin between the sides heading into the final quarter.
Dan Jones added two further penalties, looking to take the game beyond the Ravens. Bridgend weren't finished yet, adding a fourth score and narrowing the gap to just two points with the clock ticking towards 80. With the referee blocking a Bridgend attack, a scrum was awarded to the visitors in the Quins 22. Owen Watkin’s perfectly floated pass set Owain Lloyd away down the wing and the flanker forced his way over. An excellent wide conversion from replacement Ryan Evans gave the Ravens hope, leaving a narrow 2 point gap between the teams.
With time for the kick off, Bridgend gave everything, trying to go 90 metres. Whilst making ground, the Ravens were unable to complete the fightback, securing two points in defeat at Carmarthen Park thanks to their four tries and the narrow two point loss.
