An early penalty try for repeat scrum infringements were followed by tries from Craig Attwell and Haydn Palmer. The sole conversion following the penalty try left a 17 point gap between the sides. A yellow card for Newport Hooker Will Evans gave Bridgend some hope as the half wound down but the Ravens were unable to make the man advantage count.

A much improved second half performance from the Hosts came as Bridgend looked to launch a fightback. Despite a yellow card of their own, as Iestyn Merriman was sent to the bin, Bridgend managed to grab their first points with a hard worked try from Huw Wilkes. Joseph Scrivens slotted the quick conversion as Bridgend looked to keep the momentum on their side.
The Black and Amber's struck back almost immediately. Despite the tackle appearing to be completed, Newport broke away and the final pass sent Craig Attwell over for his second of the match.
With time nearly up, the Ravens added a second try of the match. Replacement scrum half Chris Williams sniped from close range and Jamie Murphy added the quick conversion giving Bridgend hope of another score which would put them in bonus point range.
It was Newport that had the last say, Fly Half Matt O'Brien slotted a penalty to end the Ravens hopes of salvaging something from the game, downing Bridgend despite a spirited second half.
