Bridgend Ravens fell to an opening day defeat in the Principality Premiership opener against newcomers RGC 1404 at a rain soaked Bridgend Ford Brewery Field.
Torrential rain played it's part in a memorable Premiership debut for the North Walians. Joseph Scrivens kicked Bridgend into an early 3 point lead, however the Ravens would fail to score again as they struggled with the conditions. RGC grabbed the game's first try following a sting of handling errors from both sides. With the ball on the floor, RGC raced away with the counter attack. Wing Sam Jones finished under the posts to leave a simple conversion for Jacob Botica.
A second try for the visitors came again as a result of Ravens’ handling errors. Sam Jones bagged his second of the half out wide on the stroke of half time.

As Bridgend looked to work their way into the match, RGC struck for their third try. A well planned fake maul move 5 metres from the Ravens line left plenty of space out wide for hooker Rhys Williams to dive over.
Late in the Half RGC made sure of their historic win with a Botica penalty. The Ravens never say die attitude saw the hosts go close late on with Garin Lougher making good ground out wide, but RGC defence held firm and kept the Ravens out.
Following the match, Bridgend Ravens Supporters voted Chris Williams as their Man of the Match. Bridgend will look to get their campaign kick started when Cross Keys visit the Bridgend Ford Brewery Field on Saturday afternoon (2:30pm).
