Bridgend Ravens welcome Newport to the Morganstone Brewery Field on Saturday afternoon (2:30pm).
The Ravens have been in improved form of late. Narrow home defeats to Ebbw Vale and Merthyr were followed by a sensational victory at Llandovery last time out. Matt Silva's men currently occupy one of the four relegation places, but have games in hand, and momentum, which they'll hope will help to pull them clear in the coming weeks. Bridgend's next three league games are all at home, with Carmarthen and Bargoed the two sides to visit following the East Walian's visit this weekend.
The Black and Ambers are currently fifth in the table and had been on a run of five games without victory before last weekend's success over Llanelli. Despite going behind, they emerged comfortably by 26pts to 10. This followed a home reverse to North Wales powerhouse RGC 25pts to 28.
Earlier this season, it was the Black and Ambers that triumphed in a fast and open game at Rodney Parade. Bridgend took the lead with a try from Dafi Davies, but Newport's Matt O'Brien scored 18pts to give them an 18pts to 12 lead at the break. Bridgend couldn't get themselves back into the game as the home side triumphed 28pts to 17. Last season, Bridgend won the corresponding fixture 16pts to 12 at the Morganstone Brewery Field with Jamie Murphy putting in a fine performance, scoring 11 points to steer his side home.
Bridgend stick largely with the side which emerged victorious at Llandovery. Tyler Williams, Ashley Evans and Geraint Roberts will be hoping to continue their respective rich veins of form with Morgan Jones and Nathan Edwards again selected as the midfield pairing. Ryan Evans and Connor Tantum are the half backs.
Man of the Match in victory at Llandovery Owen Thomas is the centrepiece of the Ravens front row; with Rhodri Apsee and Cai Lewis packing down either side of him. James Little and Ben Jones are the second row, with Jordan Collier, Adam O'Driscoll and Aled Evans the back row.
Jamie Murphy returns from injury amongst Bridgend's replacements. After missing the Llandovery clash with a last minute knock, Stuart Floyd Ellis also takes a place amongst the substitutes.
