Bridgend Ravens travel to Sardis Road on Saturday afternoon to face Pontypridd in the Principality Premiership (2:30pm).
The Ravens will be looking to kick start a 2018 which has been frustrated with fixture postponements and barren weekends. After an encouraging showing, albeit in defeat against Ebbw Vale, Bedwas thumped Bridgend 41-14 at the Bridge Field.
Bridgend haven’t played at Sardis Road since November 2015 when they came away with a hugely impressive 14-8 victory in the Foster’s Challenge Cup. A late Ryan Griffiths try stole the spoils for Bridgend, earning them their first win at the ground for nine years. What made the victory all the more remarkable was that Bridgend had been thumped 50-0 at the ground by the same opponents just eight weeks previous.
After a fortnight without action, Matt Silva rotates his squad. Jonny Phillips, who was a late injury withdrawal at Bedwas starts in the back three with Aaron Grabham and Ryan Griffiths. Bridgend Athletic starlet Stuart Floyd-Ellis partners Nathan Edwards in the centre with Jamie Murphy switching to outside half, alongside Connor Tantum.
The backrow sees Ashton Evans, Adam O’Driscoll and Dafi Davies selected. Kieran Martin and Chris John pair up in the boiler house with Rhodri Apsee, Gareth Harvey and Cai Lewis in the front row.
