Aberavon (h) preview

Bridgend Ravens host Aberavon this weekend in the British and Irish Cup Qualifier this Saturday at the Bridgend Ford Brewery Field (2:30pm).

The Ravens finished top out of the Ospreys sides last season to earn the right to host the 'final' of the Ospreys qualification. The winner will enter an exciting group containing Leeds, Rotherham and Ulster A.

Last season, Bridgend defeated Neath at the Gnoll before facing Aberavon at the Talbot Athletic Ground in the 'final.' It was the Wizards who came out on top in a 33-22 scoreline, despite the Ravens leading at half time.

In a bit to reverse this defeat, Paul Young and Mike Hook have named a strong side for the game on Saturday. Returning to the squad are Matthew Dwyer and Lloyd Evans, along with new boys Ollie Cracknell, Luke Price and Rory Thornton from the Ospreys.

Bridgend Ravens XV: Ross Jones, Tom Morgan, Ryan Evans, Adam Williams, Tom O'Flaherty, James Dixon (c), Derrick Tredray.
Gary Carpenter, Matthew Dwyer, Cai Lewis, Rhydian Gierat, Ben Jones, Andrew Waite, Lloyd Evans & Dai Barry.

Replacements: Ashleigh James, Mitchell Auger, Jon Thomas, Ollie Cracknell, Rory Thornton, Zach O'Driscoll, Chris Williams & Luke Price.
