Neath (a) Preview

Bridgend Ravens are back in Principality Premiership action this weekend as they travel to The Gnoll to take on 10th placed Neath (Saturday, KO 2:30pm).

Both sides had good home derby wins in the British & Irish Cup last Saturday, with Neath triumphing 45-27 over Bedwas whilst the Ravens produced a dominant forwards performance to beat Cardiff 21-7.

But it's the league where the sides have struggled. The Ravens sit in 9th, just one spot above the Welsh All Blacks and both teams are level on points, having taken 9 from their opening 7 games. Neither side has recorded back-to-back victories so far this season and both won their opening-day games so they could hardly be more evenly matched and will be determined to get a result this weekend.

There's only one change in the Ravens back line as Tom Grabham moves to fullback to cover Ashley Evans, with Luke Morgan joining Glen Lewis on the wing. Jamie Murphy starts at 10 and will be hoping to recreate the form he showed last weekend when he notched up 20 points in the victory over Cardiff.

Last weekend's dominant pack also remains largely unchanged. Andrew Waite replaces Jonathon Vaughan on the flank and Owen Williams starts at prop with Jonathan Thomas amongst the replacements. Ken Dowding also returns to the bench for the first time since the Ravens played Cardiff over a month ago.
